The Research Committee was instructed to study the possibilities in several types
of equipment. The study will include chain baskets, balls with an imitation
leather cover and backboards of various sizes and shapes.

It was voted to make the size specifications for basketballs as follows:
Minimum circumference 29 inches for participants bdow senior high school age and
av 1/2 inches for others; maximum circumference 30 inches.

It wes voted to permit no substitutions during the interval which follows a score
unless there is a charged time out or a time out for injury.

It was voted that in ease the ball is in the air on a try for goal when the
gun sounds to end a period, subsequent touching of the ball by a teammate of the
thrower will constitute the ond of the play. However, such touching by a do-
fensive player will not nullify a goal which may be scored following the touch-
ing.

By mutual agreement between teams or by conference orleague ruling any game
may be played in quarters. In such cases the administration will be the same as
that which is now prescribed for high school games.

Also by such agreement in games between contestants below college age a referee's
time-out of two minutes may be provided in the second and fourth quarter. This
timc-out will be taken the first time the ball is dead after four minutes of the
quarter have expired and provided there has been no charged time-out to either
team during the first four mihutes of the quartcre

It was voted that intermissions between quarters and prior to any overtime
period by two minutes.

It was voted to authorize the editorial committee to redraft Rule 8, Section 8,
and, if possible, to base it on the assumption that the division line is always
in a team's own back courte

It was voted to use the "sudden death" method of ending tie games for those be- —
low college age in the first overtime period, this overtime to be thrce minutos
in case neither team scores two points during that time and, &f either team is
one point in the lead at the end of the three minute period, that such toam

be declared the winner. In caso of a tie at the end of the first overtime the
samo rules will apply to sabsequent overtime periods.
