My Dear Doctor:

Here I am scratching my dandruff and let me
say that this Basket Ball situation is enough to make a
man dig hard with his fingers.

I haven't seen a game this year, but expect ,
to inaugurate the season with you Saturday Nisht. We have
an exceptionally fine game in the new Coliseum scheduled for
Friday Night with El Reno and Central of Oklahoma City as
principals. #1 Reno's champion 5 is held over intact.

I wish you could come down Friday if possible,
otherwise, I will see you Saturday and settle all of the grave
problems which have escaped our attention since I had the
pleasure of last seeing you in your home.

I hope you and your boys don't take this game

Saturday Night lightly as the Sooners expect to get on their
horse and ride all over the court. It looks like Mr, Johnson's

youngest son is really going this year and I hope he gives us
some satisfaction Saturday.

Dear Phog:

I acknowledge receipt of your letter of October 15th in which we discuss the
California basketball team. I am emclosing a little dope that I wrote out in
longhand that may be of some value to you.

The California assistant coach is having practice regularly five days a week

at California. I understand that several of the boys who were out for foot-
ball a year ago,and who are also basketball players, did not go out for the
football this year but are working regularly on basketball. This will put them
in much better shape for early season games than they were a year ago. In spite
of this hard work, it is the general opinion around these parts that Califomia
will not be as strong as last year. To begin with they haven't a man on the
squad who would be able to pull the team together once it started on the down
gradee Corbin besides being an excellent player was also a fine leader and one
who could pull the boys together if things were not going right. California
has not been able to do a thing against 4 shifting zone defense. Last year

I witnessed their games against St. Ignatius and Santa Clara and in neither of
these games was California able to do a thing against these defenses. [In-
cidently California was beaten badly in both of these games. The opponent

in each case used e delayed offense with forwards in the corners and a big,

tall center in the middle. This seemed to open up the California defense to

the state of allowing the passes to come in to either the forwards or the center
and the return pass for a shot. California cannot play a slow deliberate game.
Their game is a hard, driving attack and unless they play this way they cannot
hope to wine

This week is our most important game:of the season, against Southern California.
"Pop" is busy. with’the boys trying to whip them into shape for a winner.
