Concerning officials, I am in the dark as much as you. 1 did hear from Eilers on July 25th and he stated that Van Reen was defnitely out because both games were on school days. Then on August lst he wrote that both he and Peters hed secured Gibbs for both games. When he wrote that Van Reen was not available (this being our first choice along with Curtis or Gibbs) I have assumed that they would follow Our second choce as outlined on July 2@. In fact, I have urged this with Eilers amlsuppose we should both ‘require them to follow our previous. arrangements. I. have written to Eilers today and we should have this settled shortly without any further delays. . Allen Varsity Basketball Coach University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog: I agree with you sincerely respecting choice of officials for our games. Filers has indicated that he and Peters would make the assignments. I have written him that this would be satisfactory after we have agreed upon the men to be assigned. The following men, within a reasonable distance of both of us, are working in our conference: Roper of Lincoln Harrison of Lowa o Van Reen of St. Louis North of Des Moines. Also Gibbs, but I realize that he is some distance away. He is working in St. Louis on March ¢nd and orobably could continue to Omaha for the March 4th date. If you will submit your choice of any of these men and a list of your own conference officials near enough to acceot an assignment, possibly we can agree on one from each conference and have them available for both games.
