Page two. If you budget allows it I would shay at the Statler. The Book is supposed to be the best in town but I doubt it is much better than the Statber — and it is a little farther away. The Fort Shelby is too far away. The 4 Detroit-Leland is a very good hota. The Tuller is just as good a hotel as you would find in any smaller town ( far better than the one is Ann Arbor for example ) but it is an older hotel and the hewer ones are better. I would have no objection to staying there myself and its location is excellent. Be sure to let me khow how many are in the squad and how many will be in the party. Also at what time you will arrive. We will meet you at the train and drive you ail to your hotel. This will be on the 23rd. On that poe *1 evening I hope that some of us can have a small group dinner together eit will find a place. The hotels are out of the question because they charge too muche Remember the Greenfield cafeteria when younare in Detroit. They serve the best food in town and are right dom town. I think we will go to the Peacock tea room for dinner where you can get an exceklent course dinner for a dollar. It is within a block of the General Motors Buolding and the boys could take a look at the war exhibits there before we went back down town. The G.M. building as you probably know ighbout 4 miles from down town. Now as to Thurdday, the 24th. You will want to work out in the morning. There may even be time for a work out on the 23rd before dinner if you get in soon enough. After you have had lunch will see that you see one of tse war plants in Detroit or maybe just a ride around town if the boys would rather do that. To my mind &XXXtaonide thru the better residential districts does not offer much but the boys may like it. They had better pick the Chrysler Tank plant or Ford River Rouge. On the evening of the 24th I would like to have the boys split up to spend the night before Christmas with us in our homes, a boy or two to a home. I would like to have you spend that evening with me, Phog. Now don't say that you wouldn't want to put us to that trouble and all that. You don't suppose thatothe K.U. Alumni up here would want thoge boys to spend that evening in a hotel, do you ?
