fe TRISH NINE ROCKEFELLER PLAZA NEW YORK CITY April 23rd, 1942 Dr. Forrest C. Allen, Director of Physical Education, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Doc:- The only place where there will be a game played on Monday, December 28th, is in Madison Square Garden. I imagine that we could get Fordham for that date, although they are also scheduled to play in the Garden on Saturday, January 2nd, and it would mean two games in the same week, I do not think, however, that Monday and Saturday will be too much, In order to play on the 26th and 28th, therefore, it would be necessary for you to schedule a game in Buffalo or Philadelphia. On Saturday, December 26th, Temple would be available in Convention Hall, Philadelphia, and St. Bona- venture in Memorial Auditorium, Buffalo. Either would be on a direct line and entail no additional expense in transporta- . tion. My honest opinion is that the gate receipts in Buffalo would probably exceed the Philadelphia gate receipts by 20 to 25%. Southern California will be playing Canisius in Buffalo on Saturday, December 26th. There would be no difference in the reimbursement of expenses for either place as we would conform to our arrangement of 1940, The auditorium in Buffalo seats about the same as Convention Hall in Philadelphia, but playing conditions are much better. Please let me know as soon as possible whether you prefer the Temple game in Philadelphia or the St. Bona- venture game in Buffalo. Sincerely yours, _ Director of Basketball Madison Square Garden NI:FP
