INTRODUCTION

The following tales I heard related when a
boy; some of them are familiar to almost
every village youth in the province of Mun-
ster, but I have tried to dress them in a new
language, and to present them to the reader
in a more attractive style than that in which
he may have heard them related. If I have
succeeded I shall feel repaid for my trouble.
