KU police officers observe the February First Movement demonstration against William Shockley's presence on campus. The protesters were demonstrating against a speech by William Shockley to the Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa society. Shockley believed African Americans were less intelligent than white people and that they should voluntarily undergo sterilization.
