University of Kansas security Captain B.L. Ellison and Vice Chancellor Del Shankel escort William Shockley through a crowd of February First Movement protesters. February First Movement members disrupted classes at the Military Science Building where Shockley was scheduled to speak with the Sachem Circle Omicron Delta Kappa. Shockley believed African Americans were less intelligent than white people and that they should voluntarily undergo sterilization.
