LIONS D.E. IN WRECK: Three teen-agers were killed, and one woman was hospitalized in serious condition after a ear wreck yesterday in Ponchatou.
Kelly Esh, 18 and his brother, Dale Ess, 17, of Versailles, Mo., were proclaimed dead at the intersection and held inside by Rogers' vehicle at 1:30 a.m.
Their cousin and the driver, Kenneth Willet, 19, of Drayton Plains, Ontario, died in April. Sandi Arnesian, the Hospital, said Robert Arnesian, a hospital official.
Rogers, 24, was alone in his jeep and suffered a fractured neck. He will be hospitalized for at least a week. Aranian said.
GASTINEAU QUITS JETS: New York Jets defense end Mark Gastineau, who created headlines with his "sack dance" and his romance with actress Reba Nielsen, told the team that he didn't want to play football anymore.
"Mark Gasteinne has decided for his personal reasons that he doesn't want to play football at this time," said Steve Gutman, Jets president. A team spokesman said Gasteinne, who was leading the American Football Conference in sacks with seven, had not been allowed to play and told Walton about his plans. Gasteinne couldn't be reached for comment.

NAVY REJECTS REQUEST: Navy Secretary John McCain has refused a request from basketball star and Navy ensign David Robinson to be released from active duty to start his pro basketball career.
Robinson, a 7-foot-1-inch American while at the U.S. Naval Academy and a member of the U.S. Olympic basketball team this summer, will play Baili District yesterday, according to Navy officials and Robinson
Robinson has signed an eight-year, $2 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs and hopes to begin his pro career this year instead of waiting until new season. His two-year contract doesn't expire until May 17, 1988.
KANSAIS VOLLEYBALL! The Kansas volleyball team will try to even its Big Eight Conference record field. It won’t happen in Allen Field House.
The Jayhawks are sixth in the Big Eight. The Hawks are seventh and a 10 overall record. Colorado is third in the Big Eight with 3-3 conference record and 19-9 overall record.
"I haven't seen Colorado this year," she said. "But I feel like we play competitively, we will be able to stay with them. I'm not sure about Nebraska. The psychological factor that drives her game we've had a few problems this year."

KU WOMEN'S CREW: The Kansas women's crew team will compete in the Head of the Charles regatta tomorrow in Boston.
The race, which is the largest single-day regatta in the world, attracted 3,450 participants and more than 250,000 spectators last year.
