University Daily Kansan / Monday, October 17, 1988 7 Uganda plane crashes on runway; 50 aboard Nation/World ROME - A Uganda Airlines Boeing 707 jetliner with at least 50 people aboard crashed last night in heavy fog while attempting to land at the Vinci airport. Police said an underdeternied number of people were killed. Local news reports said at least 13 of those aboard survived. The aircraft, on a flight from London to Entebbe, Uganda, via Rome, split in two and burst into flames as it landed at 12:31 a.m. (6:31 p.m. CDT). The Italian news agency ANSA reported the plane crashed into construction as it attempted to land. "There are deaths," a police officer at the airport said, speaking on condition of anonymity. "But until daylight we won't know many." "It was definitely the fog," said the officer when asked what may have caused the crash. Report: Pakistani flight sabotaged ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Sabatoge or annoter criminal act caused a plane crash that killed President Mohammed Zul Huq-Haq, the U.S. ambassadors.
