Rush drove into the lane for baskets and poured in three-point shots. He drilled 4-of-6 long-distance attempts. The reverse dunk in the second half wasn't Rush's lone big jam. Rush dunked the ball again in the first half. He stole the ball, sprinted to the basket. leaped into the air and threw his arm backward for a tomahawk slam. In front of a raucous crowd, Kansas won its fourth straight contest. "I don't want to play Kansas right now," Rush said. "Those boys are tough right now." Raskethall Notes: Chalmers shines Freshman guard Mario Chalmers was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week by the conference on Monday. Chalmers averaged 18 points and 6.5 assists during two games last week. Chalmers is the second player from Kansas to be named player of the week. Chasing greatness After Rush's 24 points, he currently is averaging 14.6 points per game, which has tied him for the most points per game as a freshman with Danny Manning. Back in the groove Sophomore center Sasha Kaun's double-digit scoring effort was the first from Kaun since a Jan. 4 game against Yale. Meuan True/KANSAN Decisive plays that led to the victory against TTU After Rush hit a three-point shot from senior guard Jeff Hawkins, senior guard Steven Vinson hit another three-point shot on the next possession to make the score 43-20 with 1:11 to play. At the 14:43 mark in the first half, freshman guard Brandon Rush missed a shot, got his own rebound and scored to give Kansas a 15-4 lead. A rush went on a personal 7.0 run to open the second half, which was capped by a layup with 11.56 remaining to make the score 63 40. In his run, Rush had a three pointer and a dunk as well. At the 9:43 mark of the second half, sophomore forward Darnell Jackson went up to grab an offensive rebound and dunked it on his way down to cap a 14.0 Kansas run. Daniel Run.
