I figured it was just the fact that we can't afford to have it above 60 degrees, or that we've had three keegers and never bothered to mop up the "beer pong room." Katie Moyer's Feng Shui article (page 8) made me realize it may not be just the shivering or the stale beer smell, but the negative energy that comes from them, along with the exposed wire in the kitchen and the mismatched Neil Diamond-Parisian scene poster pair in the living room. Yes, it's all about the new ideas. This semester we're trying a lot of new things for Jayplay: it's been trimmed lean in some places and fattened up in others. We've reworked, reorganized, redesigned and gussied up the magazine to make it easier and more fun for you to read. We're offering new short pieces (find your drunk food of the week, page 4) and more of your stories (see Mortifying Moments, page 9). This issue we offer a new cultural perspective: read Katie Moyer's story about life for a practicing Muslim KU student (page 10), or James Foley's about the Japanese new year tradition. If you have any new ideas for us, any complaints or questions, write us at jayplay06@gmail.com. We want to hear your voice.
