110 YEARS OF KANSAS BASKETBALL 1956-1957: Dick Harp took over as head coach of the Jayhawks, coaching them to a 24-3 record and first in the Big 7. Kansas lost the NCAA game to North Carolina in triple overtime, but Wilt Chamberlin was still named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. 1957-1958: The Hawks tied for second in the Big 7 with an 8-4 record and went 18-5 for the regular season overall.
