Ringing in a new semester
Students were welcomed by chilly weather when they returned to campus this week. But low temps couldn't cool the excitement brought on by recent athletic success and the thrill of a new beginning.
Rebecca Ryan, Pasadena, Calif., freshman, and her cousin Gabi Bryant, move the last of Ryan's items into McCollum Hall after winter break. The majority of students moved back into the dorms on Tuesday.

Margue Frederick, director of special events and visitor services, and Jim McCauley, Kansas geological surveyor, plan the 11th Wheatstate Whirlwind Tour at the Kansas Union Tuesday morning. The tour covers 1,200 miles in 12 days throughout rural Kansas and teaches faculty about the areas of Kansas where many students come from.
