Kansas State officials disclosed the investigation Tuesday, but declined to reveal any details. The school became the second institution to fall under investigation in three days. The NCAA announced Sunday that it was investigating the football program at Wichita State University. C. Clyde Jones, KSU faculty representative, said his school was in "no position to comment;" but that the NCAA had begun "a preliminary inquiry." Kansas State Athletic Director H. B. Lee declined to comment. Prof to discuss Jonathan Swift In Kansas City, Arthur J. Eergstrom, secretary of the NCAA infractions committee, said there would be no announcement at this time on the report. The same reply came from Big Eight Commissioner Wayne Duke, who noted his office conducts "many routine investigations of athletic practices in Big Eight schools." Merrel D. Clubb, professor of English at KU and former chairman of that department, will speak on "Incitemet to Bonfires," to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Swift, best known as author of "Gulliver's Travels." More than 140 persons are expected to attend a colloquium on time-series analysis at the University of Kansas, Dec. 13-15. The program is part of a series, "Computer Applications in the Earth Sciences," sponsored by the Kansas Geological Survey, the Center for Research in the Engineering Sciences (CRES), and University Extension.
