8 UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN Monday, November 20, 1967 Head of voice faculty sings today at 8 p.m. Bass-baritone Kenneth Smith, head of KU's voice faculty, will sing in a Faculty Recital at 8 p.m. Monday in Swarthout Recital Hall. Richard Angleetti, assistant professor of piano, will accompany him on the piano. Smith makes yearly coast-tocoast tours as recitalist, as soloist in major symphony orchestras and as opera singer. He has been a member of the Chicago Lyric Opera, the New York City Opera, Boston's New England Opera, the Philadelphia Lyric and the NBC-TV Opera. Smith was born in Leeds, England, and grew up in Stamford, Conn. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the New York College of Music. Sign up for Mexican trip Today is the last day to register for the KU International Club's Christmas bus trip to Mexico. Said Adra, Beirut, Lebanon, senior and club president, said the group will leave at 8 p.m. Dec. 20 from the Kansas Union. After spending three days in Mexico City, Acapulco and Monterrey, the bus will return to the Union Jan. 2. The trip costs $150 per person, Adra said, but this price, to be paid by Dec. 18, includes hotel rooms and bus fare. Adra said the trip is not just for club members and anyone is welcome to go. "Brazilian Water Colors," a half-hour movie narrated in English, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Kansas Union Pine Room. Admission is free. The movie, sent by the Brazilian consulate, is a tour of the country's landscapes and people. Construction on Fiji house set for March Construction of the new $450,000 Phi Gamma Delta house is scheduled to begin in March, according to Curt Heinz, Topeka senior and fraternity president. "We'll let out bids for construction within the next month," Heinz said. The new Phi Gamma Delta house will be built at 1540 Louisiana, the site of the old house destroyed by fire last May. The Phi Gams, now housed in Ridglea Apartments, plan to occupy their new house by the spring of 1969. The new house will have 16 three-man rooms and 11 two-man rooms.
