Higher natural gas rates approved
TOPEKA—An increase of almost $4 million a year in natural gas rates was approved yesterday by the state Corporation Commission. The higher rates would mean an increase of about 50 cents in the average monthly bill of a residential customer, the chairman of the commission said.

TOTTAW, Canada — The search for radioactive debris from a Soviet satellite that disintegrated over Canada in January will extend into Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan, the Atomic Energy Control Board said yesterday.
