Religion lectures open tomorrow
The first lecture in the Kansas School of Religion insurgural series will be given at 7:30 tomorrow night in the Ballroom at the Kansas Union.
Dr. Nathan Scott Jr., professor of theology and literature at the Chicago Divinity School, will speak about "Religion and the Humanities." The lecture is sponsored by both the department of English and the school of religion.
The purpose of the series of lectures, said John Macauley, assistant professor of religion and history, is to represent the many ways religion enters other academic fields. Two more lectures will be given this fall, he said.
Scott was chosen to represent the humanities, Macauley said, because he has an outstanding reputation in the field of literature and religious writing.
An informal dinner at 5 p.m.

faculty to visit with and ask
questions with Scott. Anyone wishing
to attend, Macauley said, must
bring his own dinner or buy it in
the Union.
