DONICA Kansan Staff Writer A group of medical researchers announced last week that they had possibly isolated a virus strain known to cause hepatitis. Various researchers have isolated what they thought were hepatitis causes in the past, Campbell said, but were unable to prove their findings in further research. The discovery could have far reaching affects in medical science, but according to James Campbell, a physician at Watkins Memorial Hospital the announcement may be premature. Three persons have been admitted to Watkins this academic year for some type of hepatitis, according to Hildred Pendleton, medical librarian at the hospital. Two cases were infectious, Pendleton said, and one case was related to infectious mononucleosis. This type is sometimes seen in patients who have the cases of mononucleosis, Campbell said.
