Nine goals in six games is not terrible but lacking for a country that once scored 25 goals in the 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup. Then, following the Fourth of July, fireworks exploded in Canada. The U.S. Women's National Team took the FIFA Women's World Cup title over Japan, 5-2. The five goals for the U.S. are the most-ever scored in a championship match during the FIFA Women's World Cup. The championship is the United States' first since 1999. The match got off to a crazy start. In front of a crowd of over 50,000 people, the U.S. scored the fastest goal in Women's World Cup history.
