New sessions in the Reading and Study Skills laboratory. will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday in room 102, Bailey Hall. The study skills course beginning Nov. 12 will meet at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. STUDENTS MAY enroll for noncredit courses in the Reading and Study Skills laboratory from 8 a.m. to noon through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The rapid reading classes, which also start soon, have been filled already. Both rapid reading and study skills courses will be offered again next semester. The clinic offers three types of services to the KU student. The classes in reading and study methods are designed to review the aspects of good study habits for the students who have missed them in their previous education. The classes offer nothing new, but simply review fundamentals. SUCH TOPICS AS preparing for examinations, reading for comprehension, taking notes, improving examination grades, developing vocabulary and preparing term projects are discussed in the classes. Groups of about 25 students meet for eighteen 50-minute sessions. The rapid reading classes are aimed at increasing the student's reading speed without sacrificing his comprehension. Individual counseling on study methods is also offered. This technique is unique to KU. The student is able to make appointments for weekly conferences to consider his individual study problems. Students may enroll by picking up an enrollment card in the clinic's office, 192 Bailey. The student will be worked into the program as soon as room for him becomes available. The student remains enrolled in the program as long as he is benefiting from the clinic. School of Medicine Receives $100,000 The School of Medicine has received a $100,000 bequest to be used in furthering the study of blood diseases. The bequest was made by George H. Wood, former executive with Waddell and Reed, Inc., a Kansas City investment firm. The income from the money will be administered by the KU Endowment Association. One-third will be used for loans to medical students and two-thirds will be used for fellowships in hermatology. How Does Chicken Come?
