Page 10 University Daily Kansan Friday, Oct. 19, 1962 Peace Corps Committee Has 2514 Names Pro Convocation As of Thursday night, the KU Peace Corps committee had 2514 signatures on petitions calling for an all-student convocation. THE PETITIONS OPPOSE a recent convocation committee decision which ruled out a convocation during Peace Corps Week, Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. Robert Swan, Topeka junior and chairman of the KU Peace Corps committee, said he expects the number of names on petitions to climb to 3000 over the weekend. "THE PETITIONS are a good indication that many students and faculty will attend a convocation with Warren W. Wiggins as speaker," he said. Swan said, "I feel the petitions show a sincere statement of interest of both students and faculty in the Peace Corps-Costa Rican Project and the activities of our committee. The Corps committee invited Wiggins to KU after they learned Sargent Shriver, Corps director, was unable to come. Wiggins, the Corps' Washington, D.C., director for program development and operations, will become acting director of the Corps this month when Shriver travels to Africa.
