How We Met
Meeting new people is one of the goals of KU's Freshman Summer Institute. But for Kyle Mansoor, Dublin, Ohio, sophomore, and John Biersmith, Leawood sophomore, love was also on the agenda for their very first day of college life.
The two met when placed into the same team for a group scavenger hunt. "I noticed him right away," Kyle says. "I thought he was really cute."
John also noticed her immediately. He told all the other guys in the group to keep their distance.
"I called dibs on her," he says with a laugh.
Throughout the course of the scavenger hunt, the two teased one another, argued over who got to ride shotgun, and generally flirted until Kyle decided to pull a prank on John at one of the final stops. A clue on the scavenger hunt was to take a picture of the Chi Omega Fountain. But Kyle, reading to John, interpreted the instructions differently.
"I told him, 'You have to get in!'"
And though it took them a few more days

to go on their first official date, they've been together ever since he took the plunge.
