A KU student was arrested at 1 a.m. Sunday after he took a stuffer deer head, valued at $250, from the Yacht Club, 530 Wisconsin St., where the deer head had been mounted on the wall. The student left the bar with the deer head underneath his coat. A patron saw him leave and reported it to the bartender, who called police. Lawrence police stopped a car with the student and three women in it; the student was sitting in the back seat with the deer head. The student said he had drunk about 10 beers, according to police reports. He was given a notice to appear in municipal court for theft, British comedian Benny Hill dies; cause of death not known ON THE RECORD LONDON—Benny Hill, the leering, pop-eyed comedian who was one of Britain's most popular television exports, was found dead last night at his home, police said. The comedian, who was 67, had been treated for a heart ailment, but there was no immediate word on the cause of death. Scotland Yard said police were summoned by a neighbor and found the body. The Associated Press 841-6886 The first popular comic of British television, Hill made himself an enduring hit with a saucy blend of mimicry and music-hall sight gags. A 1898 BMW 325i, valued at $14,000, was taken between 11:10 p.m. Thursday and 11:15 a.m. Friday from lot 102, south of Templin Hall. The car was silver and had a temporary license tag that expires April 27, KU police reported. $5.OFF Hair Design Lawrence police reported. Despite the broad and very British nature of his comedy, his shows appealed to audiences in more than 80 countries, from Angola and China to the former Soviet Union. $10 OFF Redken Perm A hideaway bed frame and mattress were placed on the putting green of the third hole of Alvamar golf course in the 1800 block of Crossgate Drive on Friday or Saturday. The mattress was set on fire, causing $1,000 damage to the putting green, Lawrence police reported. "The Benny Hill Show" — half-hour selections of skits from his British specials — first was broadcast in the Unitarian Church and appeared on dozens of TV stations. Hill'snaughty jokes, and the bevy of not valid with any other offer 10 expires 5-31-92 半-clad girls who chased him around the stage, led in the 1980s to accusations of sexism and vulgarity, and he fell from favor at home. A lifelong bachelor, he was deeply private. His biography says two women had rejected his marriage proposals many years ago. In a rare personal comment he recently said, "To be in love with someone who doesn't love back gives you a pain in the chest at night." Thames Television dropped his show in 1899, but it remained an overseas hit. Literary lion Anthony Burgess called Hill's humor the comedy of sexual regret. But Hill had some prominent defenders. The British tabloids, who called Hill "King Leer," failed to dig out anything more exciting about his life than the fact that he occasionally rode buses, despite his millions. It also emerged that he had been taking disabled people on outings. He left no survivors.
