Team takes Big Eight loss
The Iowa State softball team took advantage of Mother Nature Saturday and escaped Jayhawk Field with a victory over Kansas. It was Kansas' first loss to a Big Eight Conference opponent this year.
With the Jayhaws batting in the top of the sixth with only one out and the score tied at 2, the game was called because of rain. However, only completed innings count in the official scorebook, so the game went in the books with the score after 5 innings of play, which was 2-1 Iowa State.
Kansas, 36-6, was playing host to Oklahoma, Iowa State and Missouri this weekend. The four teams were to play each other Saturday and yesterday but because of the weather only three games were completed.
The No. 10 Jayhawks have scheduled a make-up game against Washburn University to be played tomorrow in Topeka.
Aycock invited to U.S. trials
Kansas freshman forward Angela Aycock has been invited to attend the women's basketball 1992 USA Junior National Team Trials May 30 to June 4 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Two teams will be selected from the 37 players invited to the trials. The Junior National Team will participate
in the Junior World Championship Qualifying Tournament July 15-24 in Mexico. The USA team must place in the top four to qualify for the 1993 Junior World Championship in Seoul, Korea. The second team, the Junior Select Team, will compete in an exhibition game with the Korean Junior National Team in Seoul.
Aycock, 6-foot-2, played both guard and forward positions for coach Marrian Washington this season. Aycock led the Jayhawks in scoring among starters with 10.3 points a game. She also averaged 5.2rebounds a game.
Tennis team beats NU, ISU
Aycock was an honorable mention all-Big Eight Conference selection and was named Most Valuable Player of the Sheraton Classic.
"We're getting stronger and stronger," Coach Michael Center said. "I was happy with our performance."
The Kansas women's tennis team won again this weekend. The No. 19 Jayhawks crushed Iowa State 8-1 Saturdav and Nebraska 9-0 yesterday.

Kansas, 15-4 overall and 6-0 in the Big Eight Conference, travels to Missouri tomorrow to complete its regular season schedule. The 'Hawks will then prepare for the conference tournament, which begins Friday in Kansas City, Mo.
