ceremony will be May 16 at 2:30 p.m., and should last about two hours.
That final walk down Campanile Hill is on the minds of about 5,000 people as their last days as a University of Kansas student pass quickly. Soon the day of the ceremony will arrive.
The University's 121st commencement
For the 69th time, graduation will be held in Memorial Stadium after students make the traditional walk down Campanile Hill. However, if bad weather should occur, it will be moved to Allen Field House, and completed in two shifts.
The exact number of graduates will be unknown until the day of the event. It is estimated that about 5,000 students will graduate. According to Harlan Roedel of the University Relations Office, 5,800 students graduated last year.

The number of visitors can be estimated by multiplying the number of graduates by three. Approximately 15,000 visitors will be watching the event. However, in the past few years, attendance has increased. Last year more than 30,000 people came to watch the ceremony.
The graduates line up at the top of Campanile Hill and process down the hill in two's. The procession will last about one hour and 20 minutes, and the ceremony should last about 30 minutes. In the past, students have been known to be rowdy during this time. Security guards will monitor
Officials expect parking will be a problem, even though police will direct cars. Parking will not be allowed on Memorial Drive on commencement day. The drive will be closed to all cars at 8 a.m. The best advice to avoid the cars and find a parking space is to get there early. Handicapped parking will be available near the stadium as usual.
Students graduating should remember to assemble at the top of the hill early to find a place in line for the ceremony.
There will be no speaker at the event, and alcohol is not permitted on the hill.
