Solleks said that when the thoughts came back, unlike before, she knew how to deal with them.
"I was having memories of this, but I couldn't remember enough to go on," she said. "The hypnotherapy helped me to relax, and helped me to unlock those memories."
"The big benefit was that it helped me to really get in touch with myself," she said.

"Hypnotherapy let myself establish a mind set and develop alternatives to smoking," she said. "It's like giving yourself what cigarettes gave you."
Breathing techniques or simply getting a glass of water, for example, now let her deal with her urge for an occasional smoke, she said.
Her last cigarette was on Dec. 21, 1990.
Botts said she would like hypnosis to become a skill that people viewed as a helpful option, not something to be feared.
Counseling and Psychological Services at Watkins occasionally offers hypotherapy as a part of a patient's treatment, but on an individual basis.
"If I feel it's something we can do and will be helpful," she said. "We will talk it over with each student and decide."
Hypotherapists in Kansas are not regulated by any state licensing board, said Cheryl Kinderknecht, a social licensing agent on the Kansas Behavioral Science Board.
Botts said she recommended that a person consult a mental health professional before going to a hypnotherapist.

Cleveland, Ohio, police captured a young man on Dec. 31 who they say carjacked a van at gunpoint from Clinton Clark, who had been sitting in it. Clark immediately and excitedly reported the theft to police. After recovering the van and checking its vehicle identification, police also arrested Clark and charged him with having stolen the van in the first place from a neighborhood support center.
