THE FACULTY
Observed from a Different View Point.
The question has been raised as to the size (physically speaking) of the faculty of the University. In order to determine this the average of twenty six men have been ascertained with the following result. Average weight, 145.8 pounds; height, 5ft, 9in; size of hat, 7.2,size of shoe 7.3, size of collar 15.3. These numbers correspond quite closely to the average of men in other callings and professions.
Kunkle, the taylor, has a large stock to select from.
The Lawrence Tennis Club met Wednesday evening at Woodward's drug store. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Jus Bowersock; secretary, C. A. Peabody; treasurer, L. C. Diggs. It was decided to hold a tournament Friday afternoon and Saturday, Oct. 10th and 11th and a committee composed of Bowersock, Whitman, Hudson and Babbit was selected to arrange for it. It was also decided to have back- nets put up on the north side of the grounds and some other improvments made. The affairs of the club are in a prosperous condition and the club has done nearly all that has been done for tennis in Lawrence and the University.

Do not fail to hear Dr. Gunsau-lus. He is the most eloquent orator that has visited our city for years. His lecture, "A Chapter in the History of Liberty," is one that will interest all.
Mr. John Sullivan was in the city over Sunday. The University has not a more zealous friend than Mr. Sullivan and he is always welcome among the students.
