Burzle gets German award J. A. Burzle, professor of German and associate dean of the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has received the Alexander von Humboldt Silver Medal from the German government. 12 KANSAN Dec. 18 1969 The award was presented for Burzle's "great interest in the German language and its teaching in the United States." This was Burzle's second official award from the German government. In 1966, he received the Grand Order of Merit award from the German government. Speech heads to meet Five members of the speech communication and human relations division of the Speech and Drama Department faculty will participate in the 55th Annual convention of the Speech Association of America, December 27 to 30 in New York City. Wilmer A. Linkugel, professor of speech and drama, will present a paper comparing Abraham Lincoln's Cooper Union Speech with those he gave while on tour through Kansas in 1859. Bobby R. Patton, associate professor of speech and drama and associate chairman of the speech and drama department, will present a paper on "The Application of Micro-teaching Methods in Teaching to the Basic Undergraduate Speech Course." Lynn R. Osborn, associate professor of speech and drama, will present "The Department vis-avis Federal Bureaus and National Organizations;" Thomas D. Beisecker, assistant professor of speech and drama, will discuss "Communication and Conflict in Interpersonal Negotiations;" and Calvin W. Downs, assistant professor of speech communications and human relations, will present a paper reviewing research methodologies in organizational communication.
