The 1983 Kansas Relays shift into full gear today, as hundreds of college and high school athletes are joined by world-class Soviet athletes in Memorial Stadium for the 58th edition of the track and field celebration.
The Relays, which carry the rich tradition from the days of KU greats Wes Santee, Glenn Cunningham and Jim Ryun, display the bright talent of the '80s.
Olympic hopefuls and prospective state champions alike will be reaching for that last ounce of energy to push them over the finish line or carry them that last inch to victory.
