Rebounding Stressed In Basketball Drills Coach Phog Allen sent his undefeated squad through a spirited practice last night, brushing up on the rough spots shown by the team in the Wisconsin game last Saturday. A short vigorous scrimmage was held with rebounding getting special attention. Coach Allen voiced dissatisfaction with the rebounding power of the Jayhawkers in their first three games and added that they must improve before conference clay gets underway. Allen predicted that Kansas will finish third in the Big Seven Conference this year. He picked Missouri and Colorado to fight it out for the two top spots on the basis of experience. Jayhawkers Lack Experience "We are suffering from lack of experience," Allen said, "Our bench strength is strong this year, but it is made up of mostly juniors and amores." Allen added that the three-game winning streak means little. "So far we haven't played any top-notch teams," he said, "We'll get our stifter test so far this season Saturday when we play SMU." He said that SMU is a good ball club that should be one of the top teams in the Southwest Conference. club that should be one of the top teams in the Southwest Conference. In comparing SMU against teams that Kansas has played this year, Allen pointed out that SMU defeated Minnesota, one of the Big Ten teams expected to figure heavily in the conference race this year. Against Big Ten opponents, Kansas has won over northwestern and Wisconsin, both considered weak sisters in the conference. SMU beat Wisconsin, 55-62 last night. Although he has looked good in games so far, Gene Elstun hasn't fully recovered from his recent attack of flu and hasn't played as well as he is able.
