Page 4 University Daily Kansan Friday, Dec. 9, 1955 By HARRY ELLIOTT (Daily Kansan Sports Editor) The newspaper wire services have all-American teams. The various leagues name their all-conference teams. Sports magazines and other magazines name all-American teams. The fraternities of the nation's colleges are not to be outdone, however. They too, name an all-American team. Inasmuch as they have chosen virtually the same teams as have the other trophy awarders, the only other stipulation that they can make is that the players be members of Greek houses. Oh well, the players obviously earn all the honors that they can get. Overcoming two operations on his hand. Roy Campanella, Brooklyn's 34-year-old catcher, has come back strong enough to be named the National League's Player of the Year. This makes Campy the second player to ever receive this honor three times. The only other three-time winner is Stan Musial of St. Louis. Campy injured a nerve in his hand in spring training in 1952 and then reinjured it during the same season. It appears that the operations on the hand were successful. He gave strong assistance to the Dodgers in their fight and victory in the World Series. Inasmuch as the Kansas-Wisconsin game will be on television tomorrow and programs for the game will not be available to most of the audience, the numbers of the players are listed below: KANSAS 3 Mowry 22 Parker 5 Boxberger 23 Toft 7 Brainard 24 Hollinger 8 King 25 Johnson 12 Elstun 27 Cleland 13 Dobbs 29 Green 14 Johnston 31 Jett 15 Dater 32 Lockley WISCONSIN 4 Holt 45 Radke 5 Rogney 46 Borland 7 Mack 47 DeMerit 8 Martin 49 Pamperin 22 Miller 50 Zeiger 23 Jorgensen 51 Parker 24 Mueller 52 Schneeberger 22 Smith 53 Folz 43 Litzow 54 Telfer 44 Badura The Bataks of Sumatra base much of their economy on the palm tree, says the National Geographic Society. They make thatch from its fibers, liquor and sugar from its juice, decorations from its leaves, brooms from its stems, ax handles from its branches, and pipes and timbers from its trunk. When you play on a team that uses a running game, you get to do straight-head block, and that's my meat. I block for passing plays, too, but the real fun comes when you split the line for a full-back or halfback." FREE Installation On Mufflers and Tailpipes KU Student Special Lub.
