Mr. Gilbert and Sick defined education as the process of becoming a human being, and argued that having a college degree does not always mean a student has reached this end. They humorously suggested correspondence courses as being a more practical way of becoming educated. Mr. Nelick and Miss Callahan said that college gives a person depth and perspective and banishes his narrow beliefs. Colleges are the most successful institutions in the United States, they argued.
