High school journalism topic of conference High school journalists from all parts of Kansas will converge on KU Saturday for the 51st Annual High School Journalism Conference. Bill Vaughan, Associate Editor of the Kansas City Star, will be the principal speaker at the Kansas Union during the day's activities. Lee F. Young, acting Dean of the School of Journalism, said, "We're kicking the program off with a really fine speaker, someone the kids will enjoy and remember." The Sabbath service will precede a discussion on "An Answer to Portnoy," led by Rabbi Louis J. Feldman. There will be a Yom Kippur service 7:30 p.m. Sunday and another at 9:30 a.m. Monday and professional journalists from throughout the state will be in charge of these special interest groups. John O. Irwin, Lawrence senior, has been appointed student commander of KU's 160 Air Force ROTC students. The appointment was announced Thursday by Col. Rayburn Lancaster, professor of Aerospace Science.
