Profs Attending Geology Meetings R. M. Dreyer and Cecil G. Lalicker, professors of geology, are attending the annual convention of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in Los Angeles. They also are attending a meeting of the Society for Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists which is being held at the same time. Professor Lalicker is national secretary-treasurer of this group. The AAPG is the largest organization of geologists in the world with 8,731 members. Professor Lalicker is a member of both the program and business committees. The petroleum geologists meeting includes symposia on fractured rocks, and oil and gas production. Field trips to various parts of California are planned. KU Students May Apply For Scholarships In England Three labor scholarships have been offered to American students by the United Kingdom. Valued at $710 each, the scholarships cover tuition, board and room at Ruskin college from October, 1952, to June 1953. Sidney M. Fouls, who received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University in 1948 and 1949, has received a fellowship for advanced study from the Magnolia Petroleum company, Dallas. Mr. Foulks' graduate work at the University was in applied mathematics. While here, he was elected to Sigma Xi, honorary scientific fraternity; Pi Mu Epsilon, honorary mathematics society, and Sigma Pi Sigma, honorary physics society. Graduate Receives Research Fellowship He has been an employee of Magnolia's field research laboratories at Dallas since October, 1949.
