Page 4B University Daily Kansan Friday, March 28, 1952 WHITE SATIN FOR SPRING WEDDINGS—The gleaming white satin bridal gown, loveliest of all wedding traditions, in a design by Joel of Murray Hamburger. Beautifully fashioned of Burlington's acetate wedding satin, available in white or ivory. The pleated pani-niers achieve a bustle effect in the back. The wide skirt falls in graceful folds. Lustrous pearl embroidery outlines the bodice and melts into the nylon tulle yoke. The Continental Influence There's a continental influence to be seen in new spring fashions. Italy offers spirit and color. Spain offers exotic trims and shapes. France offers a chic over-all effect that can be found in fashions of every season and every year. Traditional Bridal Gowns Again Popular The traditional wedding gown is an accepted fact, this spring, for formal and informal brides alike. And its enchanting heirloom possibilities are enhanced, to the utmost, by lavish Princess and Empire styling, the abundant use of rich fabrics that are luxuriously accented by a wide variety of embroideries and lace trims. Billowy, puffed or soft-crushed sleeves, exaggerated decollete necklines, dramatic, lace-emphasized overskirts with graceful, sweeping skirts on floor-length gowns and scalloped hemlines on bauffant skirted street-length gowns combine to create an effect of superlative elegance. A street-length gown in this light manner is of white embroidered lace in a princess style, with gores and a scalloped hemline serving to accentuate the smooth-flowing shoulder-to-hem lines. Classic satin is also prominently featured for this spring's wedding gowns. Here, it might appear as a full-trained floor-length princess gown with the gleaming satin combined with a lace long-sleeved bodice that presents an Empire bolero loo Also serving to heighten the romantic aspect of this season's bridal gowns are such eye-catching treatments, as, for example, a lace-ed scarf that creates an apron effect over the bootfaint skirt of a floor-touching gown; lace panels that extend from the bodice into the train; a tulle greatcoat, that sweeps into a train, designed over a strapless gown; and swag drapes at both the shoulder and hemline.
