(U.P.)—Warmer weather during the past week promoted growth and development of the sickly Kansas wheat crop, with "some improvement" noted in the bug bitten grain plants, the federal and state agriculture departments reported today. A weekly bulletin commented; "Some improvement was reported in wheat remaining to be harvested in western counties although some fields continued to deteriorate." The government observers said the eastern two-thirds of Kansas has excessive moisture in the surface soil, but that northwestern counties need additional rainfall.
