Paul Faulkner of Abilene-Christian and Ray Marek of Texas will fight for honors in the javelin throw. Marek won the event here in 1950 with a throw of 205 feet $4\frac{3}{4}$ inches but has not done that well this year. Faulkner bested him at Austin this year with a toss of 192 feet $6\frac{1}{4}$ inches. Herb Falkenburg of Trinity college and Dean Pryor of Arkansas are the boys to watch in the gruelling decathlon competition which starts today. Both are good all-around tracksters. Falkenburg finished fourth here last year with 6,443 points. K.U.'s assistant track coach, Jim McConnell, now the 10-event grind last year for the second time when he ran under Nebraska colors. The Cornhusker standout ran up a total of 7,120 points. The Kansas City, Mo, high schools are scheduled to show off their half-mile relay teams at 2:35 p.m. Southwest rates top billing with Walter M. Kollmorgen, chairman of the geography department, will leave Sunday for Washington, D.C., to attend a meeting of the geography committee of the Office of Naval Research. The committee passes on projects being considered by the navy for financial support. Dr. Kollmorgen will return Wednesday, April 25. Kollmorgen To Washington the same team that captured the 1951 Missouri state indoor meet in 1.31.9 this season. Thursday the Indians equaled the Relays record of 1.31.6, set in 1946 by another Southwest team. Firm To Interview Engineers April 23 W. D. Smith, representative of the Pullman Standard company of Chicago, Ill., will be in 111 Marvin hall Monday, April 23, to interview June graduates in electrical, civil, and mechanical engineering. The interviews will be set up on a 20-minute schedule beginning at 10:40 a.m. A group meeting will be held in 207 Marvin from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Mr. Smith will also interview nongraduates for draftsmen. Those placed at this interview will work in the plant at Hammond, Ind. Positions Open On Jayhawker Staff The editor and business manager of the 1952 Jayhawk will be chosen in a meeting of the Jayhawk board Thursday, April 26. Applicants will be interviewed then by the board. Persons who wish to apply for either of these positions must submit three letters of recommendation and one letter of application to Karl Klooz, bursar, at the business office, 121 Strong, not later than Tuesday, April 24.
