The sanitation division of the state board of health recently developed a kit for quick testing of dangerous nitrate concentrations in water.

Health Board Makes Water Testing Kit
The technique had not been widely publicized, but Dwight Metcaler, chief engineer for the board of health, received a request for the kit from a U.S. naval officer stationed off the coast of Greece. He had seen a fatal case among the native population and suspected excessive nitration of the water. He didn't say where he had heard or read about the kit.
