CAPTAIN BOB KARNES, Senior, is best Kansas distance runner since Glen Cunningham. Five times indoor and outdoor two-mile champion. Three times Fall two-mile king; second in Nat'l AAU 1,500 meters in '49; won Nat'l Junior AAU 10,000 meters in 1948. Won Mo-Valley AAU mile in 4:16.5; won Big-7-Southwest Dual two-mile in 9:28, eighth in NCAA 2-mile June,'49. ALL AMERICA, HONORABLE MENTION'49.
