Recreation Center for Teens Established by Local Groups By KATHY KRUGER Kansan Staff Writer A Teen Lounge, designed to provide a recreation center for Lawrence youth, the first openMethodist Church, 11th and Vermont, according to Janet Sears, executive director of KU- The lounge is a joint project of the church, the KU School of Social Welfare and KU-Y. A general statement of objectives, and a plan for implementation, Teen Lounge was prepared by Stuart W. Herrick, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Veronica Ortega Topeka graduate student. Richard C. Swanson, B.A., grade graduate student, and Andres Cabrera, Lawrence graduate student. The church will provide a place for the lounge. Staff personnel will be recruited through the school of Social Welfare and KU-Y. According to the "General Statement of Purpose of the Teen Louge." The Teen Louge and the Kids Center meet the needs of some of Campus briefs CYR Meeting Canceled The meeting scheduled by the Collegiate Young Republicans for tonight at 7:30 p.m. will not be held. The Frizzell, gubernatorial candidate, will take part in the meeting. Exchange Scholarships Open Brass Ensemble to Perform University of Kansas students are eligible for Direct Exchange Scholarships offered through the International Programs Office. Applications are available now in 231 Strong Hall. Preference is given to current and former U.K. seniors will be considered if they plan to return to KU to enter a program. Students applying for Direct Exchange Scholarships to attend the University of Kansas must be proficient in the language of that country at the time of application. The faculty Brass Ensemble of the KU School of Fine Arts will present a recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Swarowt Outreach Hall. The ensemble will present works from the 15th and 16th centuries and works composed in the 1590s. The members of the ensemble are Keith Golson and the music; Michael Latimer, graduate assistant in music; David Bishop, assistant professor of music; and Robert Ford, instructor of music. CYD to Discuss Docking The Collegiate Youn's Democrats will meet at 8 p.m. tonight in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union. A spokesman for the club, Ken Docking, is in senior, said the club would discuss it. Robert Docking and begin a debate about what he would outline both what Docking has done that helped her and what he has done that has hurt Kansas. The paper will also discuss what he will support Docking in his campaign for re-election, Cummins said. CROTON-HON-USDN, N.Y. Serving as a supervisory staff for the program will be Herrick and Robert Jameski, field work supervisor for the Douglas department of Welfare and assistant professor of social welfare. Supervisors for the lounge will be Miss Ortega, Swanson and zero, who will be assisted by bakers who volunteer as staff members; he hopes to have one of eight students present in the lounge. Plans are for the lounge to be open every day except Tuesday when the entire staff will meet. It will be open on Monday, eighth hour, eight hours on Saturday and five hours on Sunday evening. Rules for the lounge were made by a joint committee of the leaders and Lawrence youth. Student volunteers are still needed for the lounge, Sears said. Three resolutions concerning student activity fees and their allocations will be read at the end of each week, scheduled for Wednesday night. "The people next door" Frank Zilm, St. Louis senior, and Brad Smoot, Sterling junior, are to submit a resolution that whether or not to continue activity fees for the 1971-72 season. According to Bailey, this fund would replace the Catalyst allocation that was cut from the Kansas Board of Regents. The Kansas Free University is sponsoring a Midwest Free School Halloween Conference on Saturday, 10 p.m., lawrence on Saturday, Oct. 31. The fund is to be administered by a Student Senate committee she will contract various experience workshop programs for the college. The third resolution, submitted by Bailey, calls for a reduction in the student activity fees from $18 to $6 and a dividually optional fees to cover the costs of services and covered under the present fee."
