Architecture Is On Exhibit A 47 panel photographic history of American architecture is now on exhibit in the department of design, 324 Frank Strong hall. Prepared by Life magazine, the exhibit is called "Houses U.S.A., 1607-1946." It was organized for the Inter-American office of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. The enlarged photographs are mounted on aluminum panels and trace the history of American architecture from its earliest beginnings to the present day. The theme is developed and expanded in seven divisions: first houses, colonial, houses of the new republic, Greek revival, Gothic revival, eclectic, and modern. Each section is introduced by a short explanatory paragraph. The exhibition opens with maps and drawings of the importation of 17th century European building forms and their adaptation to this country. These panels will be on exhibition until Monday, Oct. 18.
