'Midst Snow, Ice, And Cold Society Begins Xmas Dances
Sigma Kappa Entertains
The pledge class of Sigma Kappa entertained the pledge class of Sigma Nu at an hour dance Friday.
Pi Beta Phi Formal
Pi Beta Phi entertained with its annual Christmas formal Friday, at the Lawrence Country club. Guests were: George Cox, Hugh Kreamer, Charles McArthur, Sonny Mahin, Thornton Cooke, Gene Alford, William Beldon, Ray Simonson, Loren Powell, Hal Hunter, Kenneth White, Ted Glass, Don Drake, Jack Kendree, Charles Marsh, John Amberg, Kirk Scott, and Hank Zoller.

Belles And Their Fiance
Gamma Phi Beta sorority held affiliation services at the chapter house Monday for Louise Lawson, of Dallas, Texas, from Southern Methodist University, and Marion Rippeteau, of Kansas City, Mo., from Randolf Macon.
Kapp-Olson
The pinning of Donna Kapp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L.Kapp, Ottawa, to Duane Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olson, Greensburg, was announced at the Sigma Kappa house recently.
The announcement was made by Martha Stidener and Jean Bowersox passed chocolates. The assistants and Mrs. Mary Youkman, house-mother received corsages of pink roses tied with the Delta Tau Delta colors, purple, white and gold. Miss Kapp wore an orchid.
Miss Kapp, a member of Sigma Kappa, is a College sophomore. Mr.Olson is an engineering junior and a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
Ward-Hogan

The pinning of Helen Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Ward, Cofeeville, to William R. Hogan, Detroit, Mich., was announced by Mrs. W. C. Jackson, Saturday at the Alpha Chi Omega chapter house.
Miss Ward was attended by Joan Vermillion and Edith Carey. The attendants and Mrs. Jackson wore corsages of talisman roses. Miss Ward received green orchids.
Mr. Hogan, College junior, is a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Miss Ward is a junior in the School of Fine Arts.
Bales-Alexander
Mr. and Mrs. Orin R. Bales, Emporia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley, to Warren Richard Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Alexander, Richmond, Ind.
Miss Bales is a College junior. Mr.
Alexander is an assistant instructor
in the physics department.
The wedding will take place during the Christmas holidays.
The Delta Chi Dames had their Christmas dinner party at the Hearth tearoom, Monday.

home in Topeka Saturday night.
Funeral services were held this morning at the Holy Name Church in Topeka.
