Mattern, Sudlow Win Cash Awards
Karl Mattern, professor of drawing and painting, and Robert Sudlow, painting instructor, have received $50 first place awards in the six-state art exhibition which opened Dec. 4 at the Joslyn museum in Omaha, Neb.
Professor Mattern was given first place in the oil painting division with "Buffalo Wallow." Mr. Sudlow won the watercolor division with his painting "Underground Spring."
Over 200 resident artists from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, South Dakota, and Nebraska submitted 585 paintings for the exhibition which included oil, water color, tempera, and gouache paintings.

Veterans Have Chance To Discuss Late Checks Representatives of the regional office of the veteran's administration will be here Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to check any difficulties University veteran students have had in getting their checks, E. R. Elbcol, director of the veterans' bureau said Monday.
