Miss Jung Discusses Surgical Nursing The possibilities of nursing in the field of surgery were discussed by Miss Jung, head of the surgical nursing department, at the University of Kansas Medical center, in speaking to the Pre-Nursing club Thursday. Miss Jung received her nurse's training at the University. She has been teaching at the University of Kansas Medical center for five years. The qualifications and type of work required of a surgical nurse were the main points Miss Jung discussed. Among the newest houseparents at the University are Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Harlan who look after the 155 men at Oread hall. Oread Hall Gets New Houseparents Mr. and Mrs. Harlan are from Cambridge, Kan. They began their duties here in September when Mr. Harlan sold his lumber company in Cambridge after 33 years in that business. The Harlan's son, Willis L. Harlan was graduated from the School of Business in 1941 and now lives in Little Rock, Ark. They also have a daughter, Phyllis Harlan McEldowney. According to Mrs. Harlan, living at Oread is much like living at home. "The veteran students seem to be capable of handling all their problems, but I want all the students at Oread to feel free to drop in and talk over the day whenever they have time," she said.
