Explains Deism To Unitarian Club University Daily Kansan Deism is a "natural religion" based on reason, Dr. C. P. Osborne, professor of philosophy, told the Uni tarian Liberal club Sunday night. Deists believed that religion could be justified by what could be seen and reasoned, as opposed to divine revelation supported by prophesies and miracles, Dr. Osborne said. Voltaire, the French philosopher, insisted that God exists but that the creeds, priests, and other forms of the Christian religion were superfluous, the speaker explained.
