Fifteen seconds before the final whistle Ashlock passed to McKee for the touchdown which gave Dix club a 6 to 0 victory over the Law School. Sheley's attempted conversion went wide in the final play of the game Before the t. d. play, Dix Club had advanced to the Law School 18 but two set backs put the ball on the 30. On the fourth down Mealer took the ball, tossed to Ashlock who took his time before the game winning toss. Law School threatened early in the first quarter when they advanced on a series of passes from McKay to McRae and Nordling to the Dix Club 5-yard line. Dix Club's defense stiffened, however, and the ball was taken on downs. Two other times in the first half the lawyers moved inside the Dix Club 20 without scoring. A Dix club scoring threat was halted in the third quarter after Zimmerman intercepted an enemy pass on the Dix 20. A series of passes advanced the ball to the Lawyer's 9 but the thrust died there. Rough, Tough Line Play Is Duck Soup To The Sperrys Ken and Bryan Sperry are two hefty reasons for the Jayhawkers solid reserve strength this season. The Sperrys like it tough. For two years now, they've faced the prospect of beating out a couple of men named Otto Schnellbacker and Don Fambrough for first string jobs. Otto and Don both happen to be All-Big Six selections, and Fambrough earned additional fame on last year's All-West team. K. SPERRY But these facts haven't bothered the Sperry brothers. Both have played a lot of good football already this season, with Bryan turning them in from his end position and Ken opening mammoth holes at the guard post. B. SPERRY How can two men who need helmet and shoulder pads to bring the scales to 170 pounds play on a first class Big Six club? Ken believes that speed is the secret, while Bryan calls fight the most important. Probably it's a combination of both. The two miniature bruisers believe in the philosophy that no upright opponent is a healthy one, and spend the better part of their game participation proving the validity of this idea. A converted blocking back, the 168-pound Ken delights in bolting over the middle to haul down enemy passers or swing off tackle to chop down a brawny linebacker. "I've found I like guard just as well as I did the backfield." Ken confesses. "You can't beat the close contact of line play if you want to feel you're in the game every minute." Ken's toughest task is staying out of traps. He believes the shock of a quick, hard charge can put a smaller lineman on an equal basis with a larger opponent. Bryan does his shock absorbing from the wider open spaces at right end. "You are likely to face a lot of interference and speed out there," he believes. "And you can't let a couple of misplays get you down. I just try to keep battling and stay in there." The table tennis tournament will be held in the Union game room at 7:00 p.m., December 2, 3, and 4.
