Four members of the University Fine Arts faculty are represented in the first annual exhibition of oil paintings by Missouri Valley artists which opened at the Mulvane Art center in Topeka today. Dwight Burnham, instructor in drawing and painting, has two paintings on exhibition, "Composition 19," and "6th and Indiana." Karl Mattern, associate professor of drawing and painting, has on display "Evening by the River," a Kaw river landscape. Robert Sudlow, instructor in painting, is represented by "Mayetta," a view of the Kansas town of that name, and "Seascape," a marine scene painted last summer in California. The exhibition is sponsored by the Topeka Junior league. It consists of 80 paintings by artists from Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. The paintings being exhibited were selected from several hundred submitted. In 1906, authorization was granted for an elected delegate to Congress from Alaska.
