Dean George B. Smith of the School of Education made the presentation. Dr. Elias graduated from the University in 1923 and received her master's degree here in 1925. She continued her studies at Yale, where she received both a doctor of philosophy and doctor of medicine degree. Dean Smith described Dr. Elias as one "whose life has benefited mankind and whose noteworthy contributions through the years have helped bring fame to the University."
