Max Fuller, director of admissions, said 19,001 students enrolled at both campuses last year.
"When we submitted our

budget request to the Kansas Legislature in May, 1969, we projected a total increase of 800 students," Fuller said.
"Last winter, admission requests indicated we would fall short of the increase, and we have been expecting it."
Fuller cited two reasons for the lag—the area economy and junior colleges.
